Need to reinstall a component of Microsoft Office however the original CD is misplaced. Is there a way to locate a product license on my PC or laptop?

I just got a new laptop which comes with Microsoft Office installed on it. However, after 60 days I need to enter a product key to continue using it. Do I really have to spend $150 on a product key?
Is there any way to get around this?

If you want to buy the appropriate Microsoft product, then yes, you need to spend what it costs. If OpenOffice.org will work for you, then use that.

i have office proffesional, and i wanted to reformat my laptop so i backed up everything on a hard drive. how do i now find the product key for that software so i can put it back on my laptop?

I got a new laptop with a basic microsoft office package pre-installed. Every time I bring any of the applications up, they ask for a product key, how do I find it?
So how do I find the product key for a trial product?
It says I can cancel, and do it later, but that I can only do that 20 times before it won’t let me use the software anymore. I’m tempted to just use open office or something, but I don’t know if there is a type of powerpoint creator for that.

u have like 6 months after ur buy it b for u need to but i would get it until that 6 months is up u should just be able to hit cancle and still use program

I currently have MS Office 2003 installed on my computer. I want to put it on the laptop too, so I am considering buying MS Office 2007 for that. However, I need to be able to take my spreadsheet from the computer and amend it on the laptop at certain times. Is it possible to do this successfully, considering the Office products are from different years? Many thanks!

Absolutely. Just remember that if you want to go in the other direction (Office 2007 to Office 2003) you might not be able to save all features (such as special visual effects added to Office 2007), but you will still be able to save a compatible version which will work in Office 2003.

I need to clean my computer using the Operating System CD which will erase everything on my laptop. I got a Compaq Presario 2500 Windows XP. I will be transfering all my files to an email account.
Is there a way where I can transfer the Office products the same way so I can download the rest of the files the same way?

No. You need the CD.

Office products contain thousands of files, registry keys, active x components etc.

There is also the size. There is no way you could transfer 600MB to your emil account. You would need a T3 connection (VERY EXPENSIVE).

You need to get another CD.

I have microsoft office 2007 for my desktop however I just bought a laptop and dont have my product key anymore. How can I get my product key off Microsoft Office on my desktop to put it on my laptop?

You can’t. It’s for installation on a single computer. (Even if you had your key, installing it on your laptop wouldn’t work because it’s registered to different hardware.) Download Open Office.
