By Nezua, Media Consortium Blogger After the shadowy Bush years, the emergence of reasonable policy can be a little surprising. Immigration law has suffered from a lack of planning and is often influenced by fear rooted in the Sept. 11 attacks. But the national dialogue on immigration has begun to grow healthier. Activists, immigration advocacy groups and Latino and Asian American communities dug in and are working toward reform. Right wing and anti-immigration voices have less sway. This wee

Gallup released a new 50 state tracking poll on Monday that found that Democrats are dominating in party identification. Democrats have long had a higher party ID, even through the Reagan and Bush years when the GOP made significant gains, but what’s striking about this poll is the level of dominance. Democrats had a higher party ID in 30 states while Republicans led in only four. It’s especially impressive considering that Dems seemed to have hit their peak after the 2008 election and had n

From President to Pundit Why Obama should have stayed quiet about the arrest of Henry Louis Gates Steve Chapman Barack Obama got to be president because he had qualities Americans were yearning for after the bitter tumult of the Bush years. He was calm, sober, fair-minded, and guided by facts rather than emotions. He didn't jump to conclusions, he didn't ignore inconvenient evidence, and he didn't blunder into messes. Their point that employers should not be blamed for a situation that the government has created is however hard to argue with. The governent

July Fourth Can Be Especially Stressful for Pets By Erica Little - The Register-Guard Fireworks have been a keenly appreciated tradition on the Fourth of July from the nation’s beginning. But what can be fun for people can be harsh on pets. Jerry Boggs, veterinarian and owner of Bush Animal Hospital in Eugene, says fireworks are an unfortunate way of celebrating the Fourth of July, as the noise makes many pets so anxious that they may harm themselves. In his 35 years as a veterinarian,

Studies show “The Chip” causes cancer!

The FDA approved VeriChip’s RFID implantable identification device in 2005, despite studies since 1996 showing a large percentage of lab animals developed cancerous tumors surrounding the chip.
