  1. What are some fun group card games?
On family vacations we get so sick of playing hearts as our only group card game!! Can anyone recommend any fun card games for larger groups and let me know the name so I can look up how to play? There are usually between 8-12 people.

  3. It's called pig.
and you basically shuffle the cards and hand out 4 each player. read the cards on the bottom ( around 3 ) and you pass the cards around with a starter and a " dump " ( passing face down )and you pass the cards around. you choose which type of card you're collecting. make sure its not the ones on the bottom or else you're never going to win :P. Basically if your friend or you had all four of the aces, he'd stick out his tongue and his other players have to do the same. The slowest person to stick their tongue out gets a " P " and then " I " and then " G " . when they've spelled pig they loose:)
the same rules apply for a game called spoons. however instead of sticking your tongue out you have 1 less of say, pencils than amount of players. Whoever has collected all 4 of something, grabs a pencil. Last one gets an S, then P, then O, then O, then N

There are many other games like..steal :)
    you need the jokers.
and you shuffle within the cards. and you hand out the cards to every player.
    then,if you have pairs you put them down. if you have like the joker;
your friends will take a card from you ( go in a circle ) if they grab the joker they're losing.
basically do this until the end. whoever ends with the pair of joker loses

    Have fun !! :)

SPOONS is the best group card game I've ever played. Lets see if I can explain how to play on here:

*Use as many decks as you like, usually 2-4 should do it.
*Everyone gets delt 4 cards, face down.
*Sit on the floor, in a circle with one less spoon in the center than people. (8 people, 7 spoons etc)
*The object of the game is to get 4 cards the same (for example your original hand has 3 jacks, a three, and a five.. you would obviously try to get 4 jacks)
*The dealer begins to go through the cards one at a time. He/she will pick up the first card and look at it. If he/she decides to keep it, he/she must switch it out for one of the ones in their hand already.
*The next person does the same, looking at the cards one at a time, switching out any they want to keep, and passing the rest on to the next person.
*The first person to get 4 cards of the same will grab a spoon. As soon as you notice someone grabbing a spoon, regardless of the cards you have, grab a spoon.
*The person left over without a spoon gets a "S"
*You are "out" after you get the letters "S P O O N." Once you are "out" you can not play, and you have to try to distract the other players without touching them. If one of the players talks to you, they will get a letter.
*The winner is the last person left.

I hope that makes sense.. it's really fun with alot of people. Enjoy!

PS. When I'm playing, I try to be as secretive about taking a spoon as possible so when others go scrambling for them, I'm already sitting there with one. :)

I love hearts if you are playing the dirty hearts kind with the queen of spades, spades and bid whisk are great family games we also like to play war with two decks so at least eight can play, we play canasta, and the game we all love is keno played with pennies and its a card and board game where up to seven people play sort of like bingo and if you have more people just like you do in hearts you play rise and fly meaning loser gets up, also dominoes double 12 is great and check this site out. http://www.pagat.com/alpha.html
